|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Certified Organic, Low-Intervention/Natural Wine, Vegan|
Over a century ago, Polish nobleman Michele Dzieduszycki moved his family from the imperial court of Vienna to Tuscany and started making wine. Fattoria di Sammontana’s vineyards are situated along the hills bordering the Arno River, about 20 km southwest of Florence, in the Colli Fiorentini subzone. Andrea, the fourth generation winemaker, has transitioned the estate to organic production, becoming certified organic in 2012, and employing many biodynamic techniques as well. This is a classic, young Chianti that is fresh and lively, made with 90% sangiovese and 10% canaiolo. It is fermented with natural yeasts in glazed cement tanks and aged in steel and concrete, and bottled without filtration. Fresh, but with a firm and elegant tannin structure, and streaks of earth and minerality surrounding a deep red fruit core. Certified organic, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
