|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Organically Grown, Low-Intervention/Natural Wine, Vegan|
The tiny family winery of Gia Jamberidze is located in the mountainous region of Guria, in far-western Georgia. Their organically farmed vineyards (a mere 0.5 ha) are perched at 150 m above sea level in the Caucasus mountains, just 20 mi from the Black Sea, where the altitude and sea air contribute a unique microclimate for wine making. This unique white wine is made from an equal blend of two rare Georgian grapes, tsitska and tsolikauri, fermented in old barrels and aged in glass demijohns. Unlike many white wines of the region, this sees no skin contact or aging in quervi/amphorae. Herbal honey-lemon aromas yield to a palate of mouthwatering acidity, with notes of preserved lemon and an intensely briny, savory character. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
