Established in 1993, Giacomelli is located in Castelnuovo Magra, in the heart of Colli di Luni, in the province of La Spezia. Founder Roberto Petacchi inherited the vineyard, which dates to 1913, from his grandfather Pietro. A proponent of minimal intervention in both the vineyard and cellar, Roberto does not use any herbicides, and practices integrated pest management to reduce pesticide use. The resulting wines are aromatic and mineral-driven, reflecting the unique terroir of the area, which boasts mineral-rich soils with temperatures moderated by the nearby sea. This blend of 60% vermentino, 30% trebbiano, and 10% malvasia is hand harvested, then fermented and aged in stainless steel. Deep straw yellow in color and medium-bodied on the palate, it provides luscious aromas and flavors of tropical passionfruit, ripe golden orchard fruit, and white flowers, with well-balanced acidity and a faintly chalky finish. Sustainably grown, vegan.
