|Appellation/Sub-Region||Champagne AOC 1er Cru|
|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Sustainably Grown|
Didier Gimonnet’s family has been growing grapes in the Côte des Blancs village of Cuis since 1750. Didier’s grandfather, Pierre, began bottling estate champagnes in 1935. What sets the estate apart is not only the excellent situation of their chardonnay vines, in 1er cru Cuis as well as the grand cru villages of Cramant and Chouilly, but also the relative age of those vines. A large percentage of Didier’s vineyard holdings have vines over 30 years old, and some much older than that. This Blanc de Blancs cuvée “Belles Années” comes entirely from the estate’s home vineyards in Cuis. Sourced primarily from the 2017 vintage, these bottles rested sur lattes for more than 30 months before disgorgement in September 2020, with a dosage of 5.5 g/l. The complex nose combines delicate white flower and oyster shell aromas with peach, pear, ginger, and a touch of smoky salted almond. It develops on the palate with apple crunch and a creamy texture, backed up by mineral freshness. Sustainably grown.
