Fans of natural wine in New York City may know Fifi as the force behind the wine bar “The Ten Bells” on the Lower East Side and the wine store “Passage de la fleur” in Prospect Heights. La Bascule is a collaboration between Fifi and the Domaine Léonine in Saint André, in the Roussillon region of southern France. Winemaker Stéphane Morin farms organically, harvests manually, and adds no sulphur to any of his wines. After a short carbonic maceration in fiberglass, this blend of cinsault and grenache aged in barrel for six months. Light-bodied but complex, it combines aromas of anise and incense with wild berry flavors and a hint of cinnamon spice on the finish. Organic, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
