Fento Wines has been highlighting the particular grape varieties and winegrowing regions of Galicia and northern Portugal since 2012. Eulogio Pomares, famed winemaker at Zarate, has brought his expertise with albariño to the venture. The granite and slate-based vineyards of the Condado de Tea follow the Tea river, a tributary of the Miño. Fento’s ‘La Liebre y La Tortuga’ (the hare and the tortoise) snaps with citrus and tropical fruit flavors, reflecting this warmer, slightly more inland area of the Rías Baixas region. Hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks, this albariño prioritizes freshness and fruit. With bright grapefruit on the nose, it develops passionfruit and other tropical fruit flavors on the palate, with a touch of texture to round out a refreshing sip. Sustainably grown, vegan.
