La Vecchia Posta is situated in the mountains of Colli Tortonesi in the Piedmont, with Roberto Semino tending to 3.5ha of vineyards dedicated to native Piedmontese varietals. He has been farming organically since the 1980’s and was among the first to do so in all of Italy. He also follows a hands-off approach in the winery, only fermenting with indigenous yeasts, using little to no sulphites, and only aging in stainless steel and neutral tonneau to allow the most pure expression of his terroir. Prior to the 1980’s, he worked at a cooperative and accrued education in agriculture and ecology, and became inspired to rebuild his farm and vineyards. In addition to vines, he has a vast garden and cattle. The dolcetto grapes for the ‘Teraforta’ come from calcareous-clay soils which dolcetto loves and draws power from, balancing out the perfumed freshness and high-elevation delicateness. It shows incredible balance with fine tannin, refreshing acidity, and red fruit. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
