Winemaker Géza Lenkey Jr. enjoys a well-deserved reputation for producing expressive, bold wines. He worked alongside his father, Géza Lenkey Sr., the founder of Lenkey Pincészet estate in 1999, and took over the winemaking helm in 2007. The winery now encompasses 7 vineyards on 15 parcels in Mád and Bodrogkeresztúr, or 10.4 ha in total. No pesticides or herbicides have been used since 2005, and the entire estate was certified organic in 2015. Géza Jr. practices low-intervention winemaking, with spontaneous fermentations and little to no sulfur used. He also experiments with extending aging times: whereas long-aging sweet Tokaj is quite common, Géza ages his dry furmint and hárslevelű wines as well, seeking to develop the complexity and terroir-driven nature of his wines to their fullest potential. The Lenkey ‘Flow’ is a bit of a departure from Géza’s usual style; 100% furmint, it is fermented in stainless steel instead of oak, and aged for only three years. It is intensely bright and herbal, with mouthwatering orchard fruit notes, a core of taut acidity, focused volcanic minerality, and a hint of beeswax on the finish. Certified organic, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
