Les Granges Paquenesses was created by Loreline Laborde who moved from Montpellier to Jura, chasing lower property values and other winemakers that have similar values to herself. She studied winemaking in Burgundy, Bordeaux, and the Rhône but was drawn to a simpler, quieter farm life (she also raises chickens, a horse, and has vegetable gardens). She works biodynamically with respect for nature and doing everything by hand with the help of her horse. The ‘La Pierre’ is 100% savagnin from 30-year-old vines planted in clay, limestone, and sandy marl soils. This wine is incredibly complex, borderline insane - bursts of ripe pear and apple, brioche, lemon zest, yeastlets, a little tire rubber, mace, nutmeg, ginger, comte or brie depending on the moon cycle. We were really blown away by this one! Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
