Domaine Marcel Deiss is located in Bergheim, a small village tucked away in the heart of the Alsace wine region. Current winemaker Jean-Michel Deiss comes from long generations of family wine growers who have lived in Bergheim since 1744. Today the domaine consists of 26 hectares (52 acres) of hillside vineyards spread over 9 communes and approximately 20 kilometers. This wine is a true expression of Alsatian terroir, with 13 varieties of grapes grown (organically or biodynamically) and harvested together, then pressed and fermented naturally with native yeasts. Clear pale yellow in color, an inviting nose of white flowers and minerals gives way to flavors of ripe apple, honey, flowers and beeswax. Refreshing acidity on the palate turns to a lingering, waxy finish. Try this with noodles stir-fried with veggies and tofu, or with fresh fig, mozzarella, prosciutto and basil salad.
