Matías Riccitelli has made wine under his own name in the area of Luján de Cuyo (just outside the city of Mendoza) since 2009. The son of well-known Argentine winemaker Jorge Riccitelli, Matías set out to make terroir-driven wines in a minimal-intervention style. All of his wines are harvested by hand and ferment with indigenous yeasts. Despite his very hands-off approach, and with zero added sulfites, this dark, smooth malbec comes across very cleanly. It aged in small concrete vessels and was bottled without fining or filtration. Floral and spicy, it bursts with plum and woody blueberry, plus pleasing, full-bodied texture and dense tannins to complement whatever’s on the grill. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
