Kimberly, a painter, and Matt, a builder, began Metal House on an urge to do good by the land, and have worked to restore abandoned Hudson Valley orchards to their former fruit-bearing glory. Employing bio-intensive farming techniques that emphasize naturally made fertilizers and pest management techniques akin to biodynamics, they focus their work around the idea of sano, which according to their website, means “healthy and sound…complete…[where] beneficial flora have the opportunity to thrive.” ‘Come Here My Love’ is their first attempt at wine. This vintage—100% chardonnay—is particularly special to them, as the fruit it’s made with comes from a Finger Lakes vineyard that includes plantings made by Matt’s dad 40-plus years ago. The juice is fermented in stainless steel and bottled conditioned. This batch was hand-disgorged in May 2022. This delivers a delightful mouthful of Golden Delicious and Granny Smith apples, notes of exotic yuzu, and an elegant chalky finish. Sustainably grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
