Winemaking in the Côte Chalonnaise, extending along the valley of the Saône south of the Côtes de Beaune, centers on the village of Mercurey. The Domaine Michel Juillot has established itself in the area for four generations and counting, producing excellent chardonnays and pinots that highlight the terroir of their particular part of Burgundy. They harvest entirely by hand, and fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts. Their southwest-facing vineyards soak up abundant sun; this 2018 vintage in particular benefitted from consistent sun from April through to harvest at the end of August, resulting in magnificent, concentrated flavors. Spicy and brambly, generous and fresh, this half-bottle offers an authentic taste of Mercurey. Sustainably grown.
