Albillo real is a white grape variety indigenous to the winegrowing area around Madrid. Miguel Santiago cultivates albillo, along with garnacha, in a desired corner of the Madrid DO called San Martín de Valdeiglesias. His family’s old-vine parajes (plots) grow on soils of granite and granite sand. For this release, Miguel allowed his albillo to macerate for one day on the skins, before aging on the lees in oak barriques for 8-10 months. Nutty on the nose and fresh on the palate, with notes of tangerine and quince, and just the faintest hint of tannin. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
