Create an accountLegendary Japanese whisky company Nikka has used Coffey stills (that is, the kind of continuous column still invented by Aeneas Coffey in Ireland in 1830) to great success for close to a century. Nikka’s Coffey gin (and vodka) represent a much more recent addition to the lineup, first appearing in 2017. With the silky texture characteristic of distillation with a Coffey still, this gin presents a unique depth and complexity. Four kinds of Japanese citrus—Yuzu, Kabosu, Amanatsu and Shequasar—accompany more typical gin botanicals such as juniper, angelica, coriander, lemon, and orange peel, with a touch of apple and Sansho pepper on the finish.
