Grignolino may just be your next favorite piedmontese grape. Lighter in texture than nebbiolo and brighter than dolcetto, grignolino can be fun and approachable but also delicately fragrant and complex. Tenuta Olim Bauda has been perfecting the cultivation of this particularly temperamental grape variety in the heart of its native territory—the Monferrato hills—for four generations. The vines for this cuvée were planted in sandy white marl sixty-five years ago and are managed sustainably by Dino Bertolino, great-grandson of the estate’s founder Giacinto Bertolino, along with oenologist Giuseppe Caviola. Floral and peppery on the nose, this medium-bodied grignolino overlays crisp red fruit flavors on a well-developed tannin structure, with a touch of almond on the finish. Sustainably grown, vegan.
