Passionate Wines is owned and operated by Matias Michelini, who is also the agronomist and winemaker. His sustainably farmed vineyards are situated in Tupungato, in the Uco Valley of Mendoza at 3700ft. above sea level, and he specializes in making low-production, experimental wines that reflect terroir. This wine is 50% each of malbec and syrah coming from sandy and calcareous clay soils and is native yeast fermented in concrete tank, followed by a 6-month aging in concrete egg before bottling. It shows a balanced mix of fleshy red and dark fruit with a touch of bramble and herbs, milk chocolate, and a hint of minerality. On the palate, these fruits come through without being too jammy, and soft, well-integrated tannin keeps it dry and structured. Sustainably grown, vegan.
