The Pinot Project began in 2009 with a vision: “a wine for the palate, the pocket, and the people”. Renowned wine importer Michael Skurnik, calleing on his previous experiences in the vineyards and cellars of Northern California, set out to create a silky, fruit-forward, and harmonious Pinot Noir from California that could be enjoyed by everyone. He has largely succeeded, with Pinot Project being one of the top value pinot noirs from California, and it has taken the world by storm. It is handcrafted with selected grapes from Sonoma and Monterey counties with some Central Coast vineyards as well. The diversity in soil and climate from these various AVAs contributes to depth in character, balance, and fruit. This 100% pinot noir wine is fermented in stainless steel, and 20% of the blend is aged for 5 months in French oak, resting for 6 months in bottle before release. 2016 produced excellent quality and quantity in what is expected to be considered a solid vintage, and it produced a pinot with exuberant red fruit and rose petal nose and dark fruit, five-spice, smooth palate.
