The Lequin family have been vignerons in Santenay since 1673, with François at the helm since 1996. He was first trained in Avize, Champagne, and then worked under David Ramey at Chalk Hill in Sonoma, California. During his studies, he decided he wanted to convert his family estate to organic farming. François has farmed all of the vineyards organically since 2009 (gaining Ecocert certification in 2012), and began to introduce Biodynamic methods in 2010. He continues his exploration of producing terroir-driven wines, with precision and purity remaining his guiding principles. This 2019 Pommard comes from the clay and limestone soils of the lieu-dit known as Les Noizons. It ferments and ages for 12 months in barrel (20% new), plus an additional three months in stainless steel. This is classic, expressive Burgundy from a talented winemaker. Certified organic, low-intervention/natural wine.
