Luca Roagna is giving a voice to the voiceless, as far as Piedmontese grape varieties are concerned, by producing a natural-style dolcetto d’Alba that has earned its spot next to titanic Barolos and Barbarescos. Luca employs native yeast fermentation to give this dolcetto a gamey wild side that melds seamlessly with the grape’s intrinsic black cherry aroma. Grapes harvested from 45 year old vines are hand sorted, then fermented with native yeast in large wood casks. This wine sees 100 days of skin-maceration, and is then aged in large-format, old oak barrels for one year. It's fantastically fresh with expressive aromatics and bright red fruit tones. Bottled without filtration, this wine has firm tannins, savory undertones, and a silky, supple texture that is a lovely expression of classic Piedmont. Organically grown, low intervention, vegan.
