Riesling is truly one of the world's great wines, particularly because it engenders at once both fruit and acidity. Few grapes can produce wines with this range of flavors while still maintaining a refreshing edge. This crisp, dry version of hails from the Rheinhessen in Germany, from value-minded producer Weingut Schlossmühlenhof. The origins of the estate date back to 1846 with the sixth generation currently tending the estate since 2015. The Michel family is part of the new wave of producers that are farming more consciously, lowering yields and producing dry style wines that the domestic (and international) market craves. Although they have no legal certification, they have converted their vineyards to organic. This trocken (dry) wine is clean but with a pleasing complexity, as it's left on its lees for 5-7 months. It is true to the Rheinhessen style: fresh and zesty with plenty of stone fruit and citrus with palate-cleansing acidity. Organically grown.
