|Grapes||Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre|
Stolpman Vineyards is considered the founding vineyard of the Ballard Canyon AVA (granted official status in 2013) within Santa Barbara County. Stolpman’s "Love You Bunches" series traces its roots to a 2016 wedding attended by vigneron Pete Stolpman, where his carbonic sangiovese was served as the party wine. "Love You Bunches" is a pun referring to the use of whole-grape bunches during fermentation (without rupturing the grapes). This rosé edition, made from grenache (80%), mourvèdre (10%), and syrah (10%), brings out the classic Rhône flavors of those varieties, with a California twist. The lack of any significant heat waves in the 2021 season allowed the Stolpman winemaking team to draw from generally warmer sites in southern San Luis Obispo County (picked early for freshness) as well as cooler Santa Barbara vineyard sites. The bulk of the harvest was pressed directly, with a portion kept whole for 12-24 hours to begin carbonic fermentation before pressing. A gentle, smooth texture frames bright strawberry and citrus flavors in this delightful light rosé, with a hint of mint to top it off.
