No time for a spring trip to France? Never fear, we're bringing a taste of the French countryside to you! Starting off with a classic sauvignon blanc from Bordeaux, perfect for summer sipping, we then feature a rustic, fruitful white from the Languedoc that makes the perfect compiement to springtime risotto. The finishing touch is a Morgon, gamay from the Beaujolais region, but this wine, though versatile, is no lightweight! Morgon is the James Bond of Beaujolais, full of suave surprises and just waiting for that explosive meet-up with burgers or stew!
Saint Glinglin Sauvignon Blanc Bordeaux AOC 2013

Varietal(s): SAUVIGNON BLANC --- Master Sommelier Richard Betts is behind this refreshing white cuvée from Bordeaux. Betts works with growers in the region, tasting various lots, odds and ends of wines that don't fit in certain cuvées and blends them to his liking. He doesn't worry about the specific terroirs, but is more concerned with making the best wine he can. This approach has proven highly successful for Betts. This sauvignon blanc is classic: aromatic citrus and grassy notes weave with a stony finish. This is an ideal warm-weather wine, sip by itself or with simply dressed shellfish.

Mas Haut-Buis Pays d'Hérault IGP "Les Agrunelles" 2010 - ORGANICALLY GROWN
Country: FRANCE / Region: LANGUEDOC / Appellation: PAYS D'HERAULT IGP / Varietal(s): ROUSSANNE+CHARDONNAY --- This estate was bought by Olivier Jeantet in 1999. The estate itself is ancient with many of the vines being over 60 years of age and one parcel of 100+ year old, pre-phylloxera carignan. Jeantet seeks to make authentic wines in the region of Terrasses du Larzac. He farms organically and uses indigenous yeasts to ferment his wines. Jeantet also uses cement tanks for fermentation, using larger oak barrels for maturation rather than as a seasoning to the wine. The results are classic: at once fruitful and rustic wines. Les Agrunelles is a white wine blend of mostly roussanne and some chardonnay. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and was aged for a year in large 600 liter oak barrels. The oak was not new so created an additional layer of texture rather than intense oaky flavors. This shows a mineral core, but has a touch of weight making it perfect for a spring risotto or a braise of chicken thighs.

Maison Pur Morgon AOC Côte du Py 2012 - NATURAL WINE
Country: FRANCE / Region: BURGUNDY-BEAUJOLAIS / Appellation: MORGON AOC / Varietal(s): GAMAY --- Of the ten Beaujolais crus situated on the hills on the western side of the Saone River, Morgon is the dark, mysterious stranger, displaying greater structure and density than other Beaujolais wines, with a long, silky finish. The gamay grape gets to show off its darker side here, with fleshy, juicy textures not commonly found in most red wines of the region, and a rich earthy depth thanks to Morgon's distinctive iron-rich soils. Importer Selection Massale specializes in offerings from small wineries, most of which are worked organically or biodynamically. All of the wines are fermented naturally, clean and highly drinkable. Expect cherry and stone fruit flavors with earthiness and a touch of pepper/spice, as well as a structure and silky finish that lingers on the palate. A match made in burger heaven!
