Free Wine Tasting - Friday - Discounted 10%

The Golan Heights in Israel enjoys similar conditions for winemaking as other more widely-known regions, such as Bordeaux or Tuscany. The Galilee region is the most northern, and most prized, appellation in Israel, and the highest quality area within the appellation is the Golan Heights, the coldest region in the country. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 1,300 to 3,900 feet above sea level and receive snowfall in the winter. Taking advantage of the cool high altitude climate, variable topography, and volcanic balsaltic soil, Golan Heights Winery has been considered Israel's leading winery in technological innovation as well as quality since its founding in 1983 in the town of Katzrin. Today we're featuring four Golan Heights kosher wines in preparation for Passover.

Golan Heights Winery "Gilgal" Chardonnay Galilee 2014 - KOSHER
Country: ISRAEL / Region: GALILEE / Appellation: GALILEE / Varietal(s): CHARDONNAY --- Of unknown origin, Gilgal Refaim is a 5,000 year old site within the Golan Heights, composed of 42,000 basalt rocks arranged in concentric circles. Inspired by this ancient mystery, Gilgal chardonnay is produced exclusively from fruit grown in vineyards situated in the highest and coolest part of the Golan Heights, an area with optimal conditions for growing chardonnay. It is medium-bodied, with appealing notes of bright citrus accented by melon and honeysuckle tones. Tropical fruit elements and a hint of French oak adds complexity on the palate. Fresh and versatile, this pairs well with poached arctic char, pasta primavera, or herb-roasted chicken.

Golan Heights Winery "Mount Hermon" White Galilee 2014 - KOSHER
Country: ISRAEL / Region: GALILEE / Appellation: GALILEE / Varietal(s): SAUVIGNON BLANC+VIOGNIER +SEMILLON+CHARDONNAY --- The Mount Hermon White is a medium-bodied blend of classic aromatic varietals that's vibrant and lively. Mouthwatering notes of green apple, lime, tangerine, and guava are enhanced by aromas of fresh flowers and crushed grass. Delicious with crispy fish and chips, grilled chicken breasts, or even assorted sushi.

Golan Heights Winery "Sion" Red Galilee 2014 - KOSHER
Country: ISRAEL / Region: GALILEE / Appellation: GALILEE / Varietal(s): SANGIOVESE+SYRAH+TINTA CAO+GAMAY NOIR+TEMPRANILLO+PINOT NOIR --- Produced from grapes grown in high-elevation vineyards on the Golan plateau, Sion is a delicious blend of sangiovese, gamay noir, pinot noir, syrah, tinta cão and tempranillo fruit. Bright raspberry and tart cherry flavors are offset by deeper notes of violet, tobacco, and a kiss of black pepper. The unique combination makes this light to medium-bodied wine an aromatic and drinkable companion to a wide variety of dishes. Give this a try with burgers, mushroom lasagna, or thin crust pizza.

Golan Heights Winery "Gilgal" Cabernet Sauvignon Galilee 2011 - KOSHER
Country: ISRAEL / Region: GALILEE / Appellation: GALILEE / Varietal(s): CABERNET SAUVIGNON --- A delicious medium-full bodied cabernet, the 2011 Gilgal cab entices with ripe raspberry, plum, and cherry flavors layered with touches of spice and crushed herbs. The majority of the grapes for this wine are grown in the cool Golan Heights vineyards, with a smaller amount coming from one vineyard in Upper Galilee. Aged in French oak for 12 months, layers of fruit, spice, and a lingering finish make this a great match with peppered rib-eye or grilled lamb chops.
