Zudugarai "Antxiola" Getariako Txakolina DO 2015
Country: SPAIN / Region: BASQUE COUNTRY / Appellation: GETARIAKO-TXAKOLINA DO / Varietal(s): HONDURRABI ZURI+HONDURRABI BELTZA --- Antxiola (ahn-cho-la) is a txacoli wine made by Bodegas Zudugarai. The winery was founded in 1989, the same year that the DO of Getaria Txakolina was founded. For over 40 years the Errasti family has been making wine from the local grape varietals of hondarrabi zuri and hondarrabi beltza, tending vineyards on the clay rolling hills near the coastline of the Bay of Biscay and the French border. The name Antxiola refers to a famous fortified home in the nearby town of Orio that was part of the walls fortifying the town. Famously owned by Admiral Antxiola, the house dates back at least to 1555, and is featured on the label. The sunniest and windiest slopes are the ones planted to vines so that the grapes can ripen while avoiding fungal and rot issues. All work in the vineyards is done by hand, including harvest. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with native yeast over a period of about 20 days. The wine is then bottled while young to retain some of its natural effervescence. 90% hondurrabi zuri and 10% hondurrabi beltza, this vivid white conjures scents of lime, green apple, lemongrass, fennel and a touch of salinity. Crisp and bright on the palate with a complex and lengthy finish - try bringing this to a clambake or lobster boil!

Mas Coutelou "7 Rue de la Pompe" Vin de France (2015) - NATURAL WINE
Country: FRANCE / Region: LANGUEDOC / Appellation: VIN DE FRANCE / Varietal(s): SYRAH+GRENACHE --- Located in the village of Puimisson, Mas Coutelou has always been a pioneer in natural winemaking; one of the earliest estates in France to be officially certified as organic (in 1987), winemaker Jeff Coutelou is now renowned as one of the foremost producers of natural wine in the Languedoc-Roussillon. He uses virtually no sulfur (a very difficult process) in order to preserve the elegance and purity of old-vine fruit, and only makes wines that suit a specific vintage, even if that means introducing a new cuvée one year or skipping vintages of an existing wine because conditions were not suitable. The resulting wines are some of most pure and delicious wines the area has to offer, and extraordinary values to boot. This red blend is 90% syrah with 10% grenache added, and is vinified with native yeast and aged in concrete tanks. Vibrant deep purple in color, with juicy aromatics of black berries, watermelon and fresh black pepper, it is just as succulent on the palate. More dark berries, a firm yet balanced structure and elegant finish make this a unique, chic choice for backyard BBQ-ing!
Down by Law Cabernet Sauvignon California 2013
Country: USA / Region: CALIFORNIA / Appellation: CALIFORNIA / Varietal(s): CABERNET SAUVIGNON --- The phrase "Down by Law" means someone has street cred, respect, has paid their dues. Chris Blanchard started his career in the music industry at the age of 14. Hosting a late night radio show mixing and scratching records led to opportunities touring with hip/rap legends RUN DMC, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, after releasing his hit single "That's the Way Girls Are". Simultaneously developing a passion for wine, Chris began working at every level of the wine business (retail sales, working the floor at top restaurants, as a cellar rat during harvest) before becoming a Master Sommelier. Chris's hit record was the inspiration for his wine "Down by Law". Sourced from select vineyards throughout Napa Valley, Lake County and the North Coast, this cab has some pretty smooth moves, with aromas and flavors of ripe blackberry and hints of chocolate, coffee and leather. Suave and clean-cut, without being oppressively jammy, this hits all the right notes for California cab lovers looking to add to their summer lineup! Try it with classic grilled steak or sweet potato pie.
