Domaine Giuliani "Les Notes de Louis" Côtes du Rhône AOC 2015 - SUSTAINABLY GROWN
Country: FRANCE / Region: RHÔNE VALLEY / Appellation: CÔTES DU RHÔNES AOC / Varietal(s): GRENACHE+ SYRAH --- This crowd-pleasing red is full of soft, generous fruit. The Giuliani vineyards were established in 1930 and since then succeeding generations have labored to produce the best grapes possible for the co-operative in Courthézon. However, in the early 2000s, Bernard Giuliani had grown tired of seeing the carefully grown fruits of his labor blended into mediocrity, and began producing his own wines, beginning with the 2006 vintage. The Giulianis are talented grenache specialists, with choice plots totaling 8.3 hectares in prime locations. They work sustainably to create fruit-forward expressions of the region and its iconic grapes. 95% grenache, 5% syrah, hand harvested and aged in concrete eggs, the result is supple in texture, with enticing dark fruit notes on the nose. Think raspberries, plums, cherries, and spice! Drink this with wild rice pilaf or pan-roasted hanger steak.
