BEAT THE HEAT WITH ROSÉ FROM RIOJA AND COOL CINSAULT FROM FRANCE!
Bodegas Manzanos Rosado Rioja DOCa "Mas de Victor" 2015
Country: SPAIN / Region: RIOJA / Appellation: RIOJA DOCA / Varietal(s): TEMPRANILLO+ GARNACHA --- Founded in 1890 by Don Lorenzo Fernandez de Manzanos, Bodegas Manzanos pride themselves on over 120 years of experience making wines that are a true reflection of the land from which they come. The "Mas de Victor" line is a collaboration between two Masters of Wine, and this rosado is a perfect choice for those scorching days when you can't decide between white and red. Predominantly tempranillo, Rioja's renowned red grape varietal, this gets a lift from a touch of garnacha, resulting in a wine that bursts with succulent red cherry and raspberry fruit, with an elegant hint of spice. Medium-bodied and fresh, it finishes dry and savory, making it a versatile choice for any occasion. Try it with grilled shrimp skewers and a salad of farro, goat cheese and citrus-parsley dressing.
Domaine Rimbert "Cousin Oscar" Vin de France 2016 - ORGANICALLY GROWN
Country: FRANCE / Region: LANGUEDOC / Appellation: VIN DE FRANCE / Varietal(s): CINSAULT --- Jean-Marie Rimbert moved to the Languedoc some 25 years ago, working at another estate until he could save enough to purchase his first parcels of land. The choice was not the noble syrah or even the prosperous grenache, but a patch of old-vine carignan. Now with 20 hectares, Rimbert is gaining fans, wine critics not excepted. He has expanded his grape varieties to include syrah and grenache, but also mourvèdre and the cinsault he uses to craft this cuvée. This organic red is made entirely from cinsault and perfect with a chill, keeping it fresh and quaffable, perfect for summer grilling or sipping by the pool. Fragrant with spice and berry fruit, enjoy this with grilled chicken or quinoa salad with mushrooms and kale.
