ROSÉ IN A CAN (YES!) AND CHILLABLE CHILEAN RED!
Alloy Wine Works Rosé Central Coast 2016 - 500 ml
Country: USA / Region: CALIFORNIA / Appellation: CENTRAL COAST / Varietal(s): GRENACHE+ MOURVEDRE+ CHARDONNAY+CHENIN BLANC --- The mastermind behind Field Recordings (we've featured both their red and white "Fiction" cuvées), 35-year-old Andrew Jones, seems to have a keen eye to finding diamond-in-the-rough parcels with untapped potential in California’s Central Coast. He spends his days as a vine nursery employee planning and planting vineyards for farmers all over the region and, in return, is sometimes gifted small allocations of the finest fruit the vines can offer for his efforts. Given his background, there’s no question as to why he produces such soulful and delicious wines. Alloy Wine Works is the combination of innovation and rustic charm that blend grapes from the most unique and unexpected spots, resulting in a truly Californian wine in a unique package. Don't let the can fool you – what's inside is every bit as well-crafted and tasty as rosé in glass bottles. This is dry and clean, with juicy strawberry, grapefruit, and guava fruit accented with hints of mint and rose petals. Looking for a refreshing, yet sophisticated summer sipper that can accompany you wherever the day leads, whether picnicking, camping, boating, hiking, you name it? Look no further!
Viña Maitia Valle del Maule "Aupa" Pipeño 2016
Country: CHILE / Region: VALLE DEL MAULE / Appellation: VALLE DEL MAULE / Varietal(s): PAIS+CARIGNAN --- One of the friendliest wines from Chile we've tasted, this is sure to become a hot weather favorite. Pipeño wines are honest, small-scale, traditionally made Chilean wines of the most recent harvest. Often drunk by vineyard workers, they are unique to the regions of the Maule, Itata and Bio-Bío Valleys, which are among Chile's most traditional and rural wine areas. Maitía is the project of partners and winemakers David Marcel and Loreto Garau, who specialize in making light, lively, extremely drinkable wines through careful grape selection, and "Aupa" is no exception. A blend of the native país (or mission) grape, and carignan, this is bright and clean with layers of juicy red and black fruit flavors. With a chill, this is ideal for summer sipping with grilled portabello tacos.
