Free Whiskey & Wine Tasting - Saturday - Wines Discounted 10%

Today we're welcoming Don Warburton from Tuthilltown Spirits in Gardiner, NY, to pour their flagship Hudson Baby Bourbon and Manhattan Rye. The first post-Prohibition whiskey distillery in New York State, Tuthilltown converted a historic gristmill to a microdistillery and made its first batch of apple vodka using castoffs from a local orchard in 2005. Today, they remain locally-rooted; the award-winning Hudson Whiskey line uses grain harvested by farmers less than ten miles away.

Tuthilltown Spirits Hudson Baby Bourbon Whiskey

Country: USA / Region: NEW YORK STATE / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): N/A --- Made from 100% New York-grown corn, this bourbon is aged in small new, charred American oak (ranging in size from 3-gallons to 14-gallons) for less than four years, hence the "baby" moniker. This barrel aging lends the spirit a light sweetness and deep amber color. Bright flavors of roasted sweet corn, marzipan, sweet ginger spice and vanilla on a warm, light palate make this a perennial crowd pleaser!

Tuthilltown Spirits Hudson Manhattan Rye Whiskey

Country: USA / Region: NEW YORK STATE / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): N/A --- 100% rye grain, this is sure to please spice lovers with its rich flavor and aroma. Perfumed cereal grain notes with touches of cinnamon, oak, and allspice open the show. That peppery beginning yields to a honey-cinnamon depth, while a buttery finish lingers after each sip. Great neat, or in a cocktail such as a Manhattan, of course!

Venica & Venica Sauvignon Collio DOC Ronco del Cerò 2017 - CERTIFIED BIODYNAMIC

Country: ITALY / Region: FRIULI-VENEZIA GIULIA / Appellation: COLLIO DOC / Varietal(s): SAUVIGNON BLANC --- Venica & Venica has been producing wine in the Collio, tucked in the alpine foothills of Friuli since 1930. Steeped in the vinegrowing and winemaking traditions of their grandfather Daniele, third-generation brother winemakers Gianni and Giorgio Venica are committed to biodiversity and environmental stewardship in everything they do. Vineyard practices are certified biodynamic, so all work is based on balancing of energies of the earth, plants, and the cosmos. Practically speaking, this means applying preparations of various natural teas made from fermented plants, manure, and other earth-friendly matter. The wines speak directly of the Venica family's dedication to the land -- the incredible precision, complexity, and length of this sauvignon blanc bottling will make you reconsider every Sancerre you ever drank. After harvest, the grapes are crushed and left to macerate on the skins for about 20 hours, which provides more aromatic complexity. Once pressed, 10% of the grape must ferments in large oak botti and is aged on the lees for 6 months, while the remaining juice is fermented in stainless steel. The wine is finally bottled corresponding with full moons between the end of March and May. Peppery and peachy, this sauvignon blanc is texturally splendid with rounded, persistent acidity. Absolute winner with a chicken dinner (fried, baked, or Hainanese!), or pair with oven-roasted whole fish (branzino/sea bream/porgy) over a bed of sweet onions, parsley, mint, and tomato.

Cantina del Glicine Barbaresco DOCG Vignesparse 2013

Country: ITALY / Region: PIEDMONT / Appellation: BARBARESCO DOCG / Varietal(s): NEBBIOLO --- In the 1980s, Cantina del Glicine established its home in an old 16th century winery, with original brick, vaulted ceilings, and stone floors. Named for the wisteria that liberally decorates the courtyard and garden, the winery is of historical significance, but is equally renowned for its elegant, classic wines. Glicine's "Vignesparse" is comprised of nebbiolo from two crus in the commune of Nieve, with vines ranging between 40 and 60 years old. This well-structured, yet approachable Barbaresco is the perfect introduction to this iconic region. Lovely, lifted rose petal tones and earthy tar notes balance out bright, juicy cherry. Brilliant with steak, braised short ribs, or egg noodles with butter and wild mushrooms!
