Le Raisin & l'Ange "Nedjma" Vin de France 2017 - ORGANICALLY GROWN + LOW INTERVENTION
Country: FRANCE / Region: RHÔNE VALLEY / Appellation: VIN DE FRANCE / Varietal(s): SAUVIGNON BLANC+CHARDONNAY --- After attending winemaking school in Mâcon in the late 1970s, Gilles Azzoni settled in Saint-Maurice d'Ibie, Ardèche in 1983. He converted fully to organic farming in 1997 and to zero sulphur winemaking beginning in 2000. Over the past decade, his wines have achieved a devoted fan base, and now assisted by his son, Antonin, the Azzonis continue as pioneers of natural winemaking in Ardèche. 70% sauvignon blanc, 30% chardonnay, this wine is unfiltered, unfined, and of course contains no sulfur added during vinification or bottling. "Nedjma", which means "star" in Arabic (named after a classic Algerian novel written by Kateb Yacine in 1956), is pure and intensely flavorful. Herbaceous, tart, and fresh, it opens up into deeper notes of tropical fruits on a broad, zesty palate. Perfect with seared scallops with passion fruit and shiso chutney.

Delinquente Wine Co. Rosé "Pretty Boy" Riverland 2017 - ORGANICALLY GROWN + LOW INTERVENTION
Country: AUSTRALIA / Region: SOUTH AUSTRALIA / Appellation: RIVERLAND / Varietal(s): NERO D'AVOLA --- The Riverland wine region of South Australia is making a splash on the scene, thanks to the efforts of sustainable growers and winemakers alike, both old guard and new. Growers like Bruce Bassham and Ashley Radcliffe have led the charge with old Italian grape varietals, practicing organic viticulture and dry farming their vineyards whilst producing pristine examples of fiano, vermentino, nero d'avola, montepulciano and the like. One of the most exciting young winemakers to watch is 29 year old winemaker Con-Greg Grigoriou, founder of Delinquente Wine Co. Born and raised on a vineyard in the Riverland, his father was the manager of production at one of the local bulk wineries. Con-Greg's approach is to focus on sustainable Southern Italian grape varieties that need less water and thrive in the Riverland’s warm, dry climate. They are organically grown, single vineyard fruit, complemented with a minimal intervention winemaking approach including natural, open ferments and no additions in the winery besides a touch of SO2. 100% Nero d'Avola, the famous black grape of Sicily, this handsome deep salmon rosé is silky, slurpable, and a touch savory. Fresh, luscious strawberries on the nose yield to dry red berries and a hint of watermelon, while mouthwatering acidity and a subtle creamy texture make this nearly irresistible to put down! Bring this "Pretty Boy" to your next BBQ or dinner party and watch it disappear at alarming speed!
Country: ITALY / Region: PIEDMONT / Appellation: DOLCETTO D'ALBA DOC / Varietal(s): DOLCETTO --- Luca Roagna is giving a voice to the voiceless, as far as Piemontese grape varieties are concerned, by producing a natural-style dolcetto d’Alba that has earned its spot next to titanic Barolos and Barbarescos. Luca employs native yeast fermentation to give this dolcetto a gamey wild side that melds seamlessly with the grape’s intrinsic black cherry aroma. This wine sees 90-100 days of skin-maceration, and is then aged in large-format, old oak barrels for one year. Bottled without filtration, this wine has chewy tannins and a texture begging to be rounded out with the rich dishes typical of Piemontese cuisine! Open early and serve with fresh egg pasta in mushroom ragù, or if you’re feeling truly indulgent, spend the day preparing stinco, the Piemontese braised and roasted pork shank served over creamy polenta with roasted root vegetables!
