Domaine Sainte-Eugénie Rosé Corbières AOC 2018
Country: FRANCE / Region: LANGUEDOC-ROUSSILLON / Appellation: CORBIERES AOC / Varietal(s): CINSAULT+SYRAH+GRENACHE--- Domaine Sainte-Eugénie is in the Languedoc-Roussillon, bordered by the Aude River to the west and north, the foothills of the Pyrenées to the south and the Mediterranean to the east. They are in AOC Corbières, which extend across roughly one third of the Aude department, which is home to seven AOCs. The region has many soil types but it is dominated by clay and chalk, with some variations on that base. They experience a sunny, warm, dry climate with dry winds coming from the north all-year-round, allowing winegrowers to forgo the use of pesticides. This rosé is comprised of grapes that can tolerate such a climate: 80% cinsault, 10% syrah and 10% grenache. It undergoes full malolcatic fermentation in concrete tanks and is bottled young to preserve freshness, displaying loads of raspberry and strawberry flavors with a touch of minerality and dried herbs. Fully dry, it ends with a crisp, balanced, long finish. Open with crostini topped with whipped goat cheese, smoked salmon and chives!

Wurzinger Lustig Grüner Veltliner Burgenland 2018
Country: AUSTRIA/ Region: BURGENLAND / Appellation: WEINLAND / Varietal(s): GRÜNER VELTLINER --- Lustig" ("joy" in German) is a wonderful 1 liter of grüner veltliner made by Josef and Pia Wurzinger in Burgenland, at their winery in the town of Tadten Seewinkel. Their estate is situated just east of Lake Neusiedlersee, near the Hungarian border. With a Pannonian climate, the region sees cold winters and hot summers that are moderated by the lake. The grüner veltliner grapes come from varied soils and vineyard sites that have sand, clay, gravel, and rocky chalk. All of them feature green cover crops and herbicides are never used. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel, and rests on its fine lees for ten weeks before bottling. This makes it bright, crisp, and refreshing, with a definite herbal, mineral, and citrus character. It's a lovely match for Thai cuisine, such as a delicious yellow curry with shrimp and scallops!
