Upwell Rosé California 2020

Upwell is importer/distributor Coeur Wine Company's value brand, working with growers as well as sourcing finished wines from producers. This lovely rosé is a blend of grenache, mourvèdre, zinfandel, merlot, chenin blanc, sauvignon blanc, and chardonnay. The chenin blanc is certified sustainable, while all the other grapes come from organically farmed vineyards, with some vines up to 85 years old. The red grapes were spontaneously fermented before pressing into neutral barrels for aging, while the white grapes were fermented and aged in temperature-controlled stainless steel, before blending and bottling. Juicy, smooth red berry fruit pairs beautifully with picnic fare, finishing clean, dry, and refreshing.
