Between the left bank of the Rubicon and the hills of Romagna grows an obscure grape, particular to the sub-region of Longiano, known as Famoso di Cesena. Family-run Villa Venti focuses exclusively on grapes native to the region, with famoso comprising the bulk of their production of white and orange wines. All of Villa Venti’s vines are farmed organically and harvested manually. Their ‘Scirone’ allows the aromatic complexity of the famoso grape to shine. Half of the harvest ferments on the skins in Georgian amphorae for six months, while the other half undergoes a 20-day skin maceration in stainless steel. Deep gold in the glass, it exudes aromas of apricot jam, dried mango, baking spices, and potpourri. The palate snaps with crisp golden apple, followed by a subtle tannic grip. Certified organic, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
