Walsh & Sons is a family-owned winery that aims to create small batches of wine with big personalities using sustainable methods. Their wines are fun, youthful, and “different from the mainstream”. Owners Ryan Walsh and Freya Hohnen have both been involved in winemaking since they were children, both raised in wine families. Before turning to winemaking, Ryan and Freya were rural farmers who raised sheep, herbs, fruits, and vegetables, an experience that strongly influences how they make their wines. All of their wines are named after the many nieces and nephews in the Walsh family, who also inspire the jovial artwork on their labels. The 'Felix' syrah is a new take on an Australian classic. Grown in sandy clay soils, locally known as Osmington, it’s a bit edgier than many, as it's not fined or filtered before bottling. Delightfully full of luscious dark fruit, firm tannin structure, and shades of green, white, and black pepper notes, this is a fabulous representation of the new generation of Australian winemaking!
