MORE ON THIS WINE

Located around the town of Langenlois in Austria's famed Kamptal, the vineyards of Weingut Weszeli comprise 30 hectares of some of the finest grüner veltliner and riesling the region has to offer. Since 1679, the Summerer family has cultivated grapes and produced wine in the area. Today, Davis Weszeli and Rupert Summerer have taken that family knowledge and tradition and applied it to their own wine philosophy, "Principle Terrafactum," which places the vineyard and its incredible biodiversity at the center of their work. Believing that the true character of the wine is formed in the vineyard, they encourage the interaction of flora and fauna during the grape growing process, and this respect for nature continues through a gentle vinification that leaves intact the purity of grape and terroir. This grüner is a delight for the senses: intense aromatics of green apple, wildflowers, and white pepper lead to a palate of high-toned orchard, melon and stone fruit with racy acidity and undertones of tarragon, green olive, and flint on a textured, lingering finish. A refreshing, elegant pick – serve this moderately chilled (too cold will mute the aromatics!).
