Folks, this is it! The last three-day party weekend of the summer. Make sure you’re ready: clean the grill, get more charcoal, stock the fridge, and don’t forget a few bottles of crisp, beautiful white wine. Winemaker Marc Pesnot was inspired by the low/no-sulfur winemaking of the Beaujolais region. Here in the Loire, he makes this wine from melon de bourgogne, the same grape used in Muscadet, which this wine essentially is. This is produced from 50 year old vines, most vignerons would classify this as old, but for Pesnot, these are his younger vines. He uses only indigenous yeast and as mentioned above, no sulfur. This is fresh and crisp, but with a measure of richness that places it above the average Muscadet. This will work perfectly on its own, or with all sorts of seafood, grilled vegetables and even grilled sausages with onions and peppers. It’s fantastic.
