Annona is the winemaking project of New York restaurateur and sommelier Joe Campanale. Joe has a longtime affinity for the wines of Campania, especially those grown organically and biodynamically. This fiano beautifully represents the deep apple flavors and nutty accents characteristic of that variety grown in the sunny south of Italy. One third of the harvest for this wine was picked intentionally early for freshness; a second third was picked at full ripeness and pressed directly, while the third third was left to macerate on the skins for an extended period. Deep gold in the glass, this wine has oxidative aromas reminiscent of sherry and a rich, textural palate of caramel apple. It finishes dry, with lingering fresh apple and a touch of tannin. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine.
