Just a groovy guy, making groovy wine. Claus Preisinger, winemaker/surfer/overall chiller, has been making wine off of the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland since 2002. In 2006, he converted the vineyards and winery to biodynamic production and has been dogmatic about only utilizing indigenous yeasts in his fermentations. This certified party juice (think an adult Shirley Temple without the fizz) is a blend of 60% Zweigelt - a hybrid grape variety that’s a crossing of St. Laurent and blaufränkisch, 20% St. Laurent, and 20% pinot noir, all fermented in stainless steel and aged for six months, half in stainless steel and half in large neutral barrels. Unfined and unfiltered, this wine is lively and bright on the palate, bursting with red and black fruit and finishing with a subtle pop of spice. Barely-there tannin makes this incredibly (and perhaps, dangerously) chuggable. We wouldn’t discourage you from putting a slight chill on this; it’s your disco, we’re just dancing. Pair with friends and merriment.
