Winemaker Cathy Corison fell in love with wine over 45 years ago when she spontaneously decided to take a wine course at Pomona College. A biology major, she was fascinated by the interaction among living systems that resulted in wine, and after a master’s degree in Enology from UC Davis, she headed to Napa, where her winemaking positions included stints at Yverdon and Chappellet in the 1980s. In 1987 she began to purchase great cabernet sauvignon grapes from prime vineyards between Rutherford and St. Helena, using space in others’ wineries to make the wine she had always meant to make. In 1995 she and her husband and partner William Martin purchased Kronos Vineyard, a property that had been a farm for over a century, and Corison Winery finally became a true estate vineyard. Three decades later, Corison Winery holds a well-deserved reputation for producing some of the best cabernet sauvignons that represent the heart of the iconic Napa Valley.

The 2019 is intensely complex and brooding, with a mantle of savory nuances of cedar, clove, and delicate salinity over a deep core of dark black fruit. Classic Napa structure is deftly balanced by an undercurrent of signature Corison acidity, giving lift and cut to the mouth coating richness. Will easily cellar for 10-20 years.
