Sweet and smooth as honey. Appropriately enough, this rum is made in the tiny town of La Miel, Venezuela (miel being Spanish for “honey”), surrounded by mountains and national parks. Even better, Diplomático ferments sugarcane honey, rather than fresh sugarcane juice or more processed molasses. After distillation in copper pot stills, this Reserva Exclusiva is aged up to 12 years in bourbon casks and then blended. The color of tropical hardwoods, with the flavor of your great-aunt’s famous fruitcake, this is a rum to sip and savor.
