The bar for ageable Chenin Blanc could not be set higher than the offerings from Domaine Huet, the iconic Loire Valley producer. Founded in 1928 by WW1 veteran Victor Huët after relocating from Paris to Vouvray, the winery remained family owned until 2002, with its successors intent on maintaining the high standards and quality synonymous with the name. Rich soils composed of limestone-clay define Le Haut-Lieu vineyard, producing complex and structured but approachable wines. The wine showcases a fresh, mineral character supported by aromas and flavors that range from zesty citrus, orange peel, and white flower to riper stone fruits such as peach and nectarine. This full bodied wine presents an elegant backbone of acidity while remaining lithe on the palate. Food friendly, especially with roast chicken, pasta with a hearty white sauce, or seafood. Certified biodynamic, organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine.
