|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Sustainably Grown|
Easton is located on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada in Amador County, California in the Shenandoah Valley. Established in 1986 by Bill Easton and Janet O'Riordan, it's also the home of Terre Rouge Wines. Bill is one of the pioneers of Amador’s modern winemaking era, and his wines still lead the pack in terms of quality. The Terre Rouge Wines are made with classic Rhône varietals, while their Easton line consists of their non-Rhône varietals that thrive in the region. Easton’s high elevation sites reach up to 3,200 ft in altitude, which contributes to the complexity of the wines. This cabernet comes from the Baldinelli Vineyard, planted in 1972 in the vermilion-colored decomposed granite soil unique to Amador County. Warm days and cool nights contribute to low yields and full flavors. Aged for a full two years in Bordeaux barrels (half of them new), it then took a long nap in the bottle. At once bold and mellow, it unfolds with tobacco, cedar, cassis, and dark berries and gets some spice from being aged in French oak. Organically grown.
