Far North Spirits is located—true to its name—way up there in the northernmost part of Minnesota. Besides their location, what sets this distillery apart are the grains they grow right onsite, on a century-old, family-owned farm. For this bourbon, they use 60% heirloom corn, 30% Hazlet rye, and 10% malted barley—all milled, mashed, fermented, distilled, and aged (for 18 months, in Minnesota-made oak barrels) at their facility. It boasts a smooth texture, with savory, peppery tones as well as sweet corn, candy apple, and peanutty depth.
