This unique añejo comes from the Feliciano Vivanco distillery (NOM 1414) in the highlands of Jalisco. Carefully grown agave is cut and cooked in brick ovens before being pressed through a roller to render the juice. Then, during a long, slow fermentation process, the agave juice is serenaded with classical music to stimulate the yeasts. After distillation in copper stills, this particular tequila ages in barrels previously used to age vino de naranja, a traditional Mexican white wine macerated with orange peels. Deep and rich in the way one expects from an añejo, Furthur añejo also carries with it just the right amount of citrus lift from the residual orange oil remaining those seasoned barrels. It’s delightfully complex and delicious on its own, or in a special margarita. Organically grown.
