When the brothers Jean-Paul and Jean-Luc Jamet split their family’s well-known Côte Rotie domaine in 2013, each brother took over half of the vineyards. Jean-Luc’s wines are now highly regarded in their own right. This Côtes du Rhône blanc shows the balance of richness and finesse possible with the right blend of varietals and vineyard sites. ‘Le Couzou’ consists of 60% marsanne, 20% roussanne, and 20% viognier. Two-thirds of the blend ages in barrel, the other third in steel. Peach and apricot combine with hints of golden raisin and toasted nuts on the nose. The palate has an elegant, buttery texture, which leads to a citrusy finish with just the right note of bitterness for contrast. Organically grown.
