La Gritona Tequila Reposado

La Gritona Reposado tequila is produced by Melly Cardenas at her small distillery (NOM 1533) in Valle de Guadalupe in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. The agave are roasted in a traditional horno for 24 hours, then allowed to rest for another 24 hours, then crushed using a roller mill. The juice is then fermented in open air tanks without temperature control, then distilled twice in pot stills. After resting for 8 months in old bourbon and American whiskey barrels, the tequila is then bottled in one of the most distinctive bottles on the market, hand blown from recycled Mexican Coke bottles. This is a great intro to sipping tequila but also a fantastic upgrade to your margaritas.
