Frappato is a red grape variety grown almost exclusively in Sicily, where you could do worse on a given afternoon than drink its refreshing product on a sun-dappled terrace. Filippo Rizzo grows just a few hectares of frappato in the interior of the island, in a village where the local name for the grape is “nerocapitano.” A rustic yet finessed friend for rich dishes, this medium-bodied red offers the perfect balance of buoyant red and black fruits and wild mushroom earthiness.
