Le Clos du Caillou was founded in 1895 by Elie Dussaud (the architect responsible for both the Suez Canal and the port of Marseille), for use primarily as a hunting estate. Claude Pouizin purchased the property in 1956, and succeeded by his daughter Sylvie Vacheron, began farming organically, with certification coming in 2009. Biodynamic viticulture soon followed and today much of the estate has been farmed biodynamically for close to two decades, and is now run by Sylvie’s children alongside winemaker Bruno Gaspard. A blend of grenache and cinsault, this rosé is a food-lover’s delight. A smooth, silky texture throughout lends an elegant air, while zesty, juicy red fruit layers (think bright red cherries, red currants, and a splash of raspberry lime rickey) provide lingering refreshment. The finish delivers a final flourish of citrus, lavender, and fresh herbs. Certified organic, biodynamically grown, low-intervention/natural wine.
