Mars Shinshu Distillery 'Iwai Tradition' Whisky

Iwai Tradition is a blended whisky from the Nagano region of Japan. It is distilled from a mix of 30% corn and 70% malted barley that gets very lightly peated. Aged in an assortment of barrels that include those previously used for bourbon and sherry, it takes on a reddish amber color. Honey and spice on the nose are grounded by just a hint of earthiness from the peat, whereas the palate tends toward smooth caramel and café con leche.
