One of the oldest producers of Barolo, Oddero was founded in 1878. The Oddero family continues to produce exceptional wines based around their philosophy of traditional winemaking for modern days. The patriarch, Giacomo Oddero, has worked for many years to protect this tradition not only for winemaking but traditional foods of the Langhe including cheese, truffles, and hazelnuts. He has since handed the reins of the winery to his two daughters, Mariavittoria and Mariacristina, who have degrees in viticulture and enology. Mariavittoria’s daughter, Isabella, has also brought new energy and focus to the vineyards and cellars, and says that the nebbiolo from their zone in the Langhe is more elegant and perfumed with less harsh structure than that from other areas. This 100% nebbiolo is full of bright, juicy red fruit and floral aromas with a streak of earthiness and savory tones. It is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, adding depth and spice. It is drinking beautifully today, but could also age for a few more years. Certified organic, vegan.
